We planned our trip from Brisbane-Cairns-Darwin-Uluru-Adelaide-Melbourne, but we couldn’t pass up visiting Byron Bay. The drive from Brisbane to Byron Bay is under 2 hours, and it was our first stop! The weather was beautiful, sunny and warm (but not super hot)! Most of the town centre’s parking is paid (and some limited to 2 or 4 hours), so we opted to park along a residential street and walked 20 minutes into town.
We relaxed on the beach first, then headed along the Cape Byron Walking Track (that brought us to the lighthouse). Along the walking track, we passed by the easternmost point of mainland Australia. The views varied from beach to forest, and we even saw some dolphins and whales in the distance! Byron Bay was lovely, and I wish we had more time to spend here, but onward we must go!
